This directory now posts multiple photographs of registered sex offenders, as they become available, to provide New Yorkers with additional information to keep their families safe.In addition to multiple photographs, this directory also includes multiple names (aliases), multiple home and/or work addresses in an offender’s profile, if applicable. Those law enforcement agencies can release the same information about offenders that is available via the toll-free number.DCJS also offers an expedited service to the public, including to children's camps' operators, to improve response time to requests for checks of prospective employees against the Sex Offender Registry.Persons should not rely solely on the sex offender registry as a safeguard against perpetrators of sexual assault in their communities. § 16-22-112(1) prohibits sex offender registry information to be used to inflict retribution or additional punishment upon the registrant. The crime for which a person is convicted may not accurately reflect the level of risk. If an offender’s appearance has changed, police may photograph the offender and submit the update photo to the Registry.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department feels you have the right to know about registered sex offenders in your neighborhood.
As we interpret Washington State disclosure regulations, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department provides information through the use of the Offender Watch program on 'Level 2' and 'Level 3' sex offenders who are considered a high risk to re-offend once they are out of custody after serving the required sentence for their crime(s).
The 'Level 2' offender information will include a photograph of the subject, a physical description, and an approximate address to the nearest hundred block; the 'Level 3' offender information will include a photograph of the subject, a physical description, an approximate address to the nearest hundred block, and a brief narrative of the subject's sex crime and other criminal history.
This information has been developed to help educate and inform the public about the sex offender / kidnapping registration program and the laws relating to the program.
Fear can be reduced and a sense of security is enhanced when a community is well informed.
